Really need some help on this! And then there are those that say for that price you are better off getting a home theater hifi system, since the sound quality is superior. But I would need a reciever.

The PC hadn't been wiped in over a year and as a rule, I tend to do it every six months or so. The v update of Windows 10 had recently been released and had been applied to my PC - all was good and all was working.

Having downloaded all the latest audio, graphics and auxiliary drivers to a folder on my 2nd SSD, I blitzed the 1st SSD and performed a clean install. I'm still using the old version without any problems, so I haven't felt a need to update.

You could try downloading and try installing on Win7 anyway IMO, front-panel jack is the only way to go with the Formula. On my Formula, the rear-panel jack is audibly inferior, whether driving amped speakers or headphones. I don't know, as I have no other Realtek-equipped boards to compare with.

Interference is a valid concern with FP audio. On my case Antec PI needed to float a ground connection at the front panel to eliminate interference from my video card.

It might take some experimentation to get it right, but the sound quality improvement is worth it.
