Is there any major differences between RAID and AHCI? I am using the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R and it lets the user enable either option. I plugged my 2 sata dvd drives into the top right orange one (sataII 0 and 1) In the bios, both are shown as master If I have 2 sata dvd drives. I'm the last of a dying breed who believes that the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R SATA2 gods mandate a floppy in every computer and only trouble follows ignoring this because the they can be very vengeful. Spikke SATA hd's don't need drivers installed, they are automatically detected.

The only time you would need to load drivers for the hd's would be for RAID. The drives will run in IDE mode then and the only down side is no NcQ Native Command Queuingbut i bet you will never even notice it not being there.
